This is an Original Bosch Dist.
It's embossed "Made in Germany"
Originally installed on 66-67 Beetles
Part# 0231 137 009
Vacuum advance
This distributor has been completely disassembled.
Advance shaft inspected, cleaned, lubricated, & checked for function
Cam lobes inspected for damage, & polished
New Fiber washers, shims inspected for damage, replaced as needed
Bushings inspected for wear tolerance and replaced as needed
Ground plate wire replaced with new..
Vacuum advance can checked for vac, and operation
Cap clips, point plate, drive gear, etc.. also inspected
Reassembled with Bosch distributor grease, & new O ring
Will need Cap, Condenser, points & Rotor
Why the correct distributor?
1-Because your timing revolves around the distributor..
The distributor dictates 5 before, after, or TDC on timing...
Not the engine...
2-Vacuum advance distributors have "load sensing"
And only advance as much as they need it..
That flat spot you have when you gas it... It's the mechanical 009 you got.
3-1971 and prior engines without an offset oil cooler have a retarded
#3 lobe.... This was VW's solution to #3 running hot because
Of the oil cooler placement... Without the retard, and offset cooler,
#3 cyl. Will run hot... Burnt valves, & cracked heads are typical.
