Description
Vintage 19th Century Disston 7 Crosscut Handsaw.According to the Disstonian Institute, the number 7 was the first model sold by Henry Disston in 1840. That this saw, with some updates, continued to be successfully marketed for over a century, speaks to the high regard woodworkers had for this fine hand tool. Dated by its medallion, this no. 7 was made around 1890, and it’s still a beautiful saw. The blade is straight with no broken/missing teeth and retains its nib. Width at the toe is 2 3/4 in. and 7 1/2 in. at the heel. The beech handle and medallion are in surprisingly well-preserved beautiful condition. 26 in. cutting edge, 8 teeth per inch. As a prized collectible or workhorse in your shop, this saw would be hard to beat.
