ReAction Planet of the Apes Statue of Liberty Playset famous movie monsters

My ReAction to this playset is  "why the heck does it retail for .99??". The box looks impressive in recalling the Mego and Remco character playsets of yesteryear, but the contents are only a cheap plastic base and a printed Statue of Liberty backdrop. That's it. Perhaps it's the size of the box and the shipping cost on the slow boat from China. To me this appears to be a cynical attempt to recall the days when a playset was purchased to actually be played with. The original Mego playsets were not cheap back in the day, but they came with parts that had to be assembled (many with moving parts for playability) and multiple accessories for the action figures.
So if you're looking for an admittedly cool-looking Planet of the Apes retro box (I could have done without the bearded hipster) then you might want to take the plunge, but I almost have to apologize for listing this bare-bones faux playset apart from the fact that I ordered a couple of cases because I thought I wanted one for myself.....I think I'll just put my Mego treehouse back together and retreat back in the 1970s where I belong.
