- A Brush With Disney - An Artist’s Journey Told Through The Words And Works Of Herbert Dickens Ryman is the story in 252 pages of color illustrations of Herbert Ryman’s personal journeys around the world as Disney’s original Imagineer.
Told through the marvelous illustrations of the artist and his own personal notes and thoughts on a 50-year journey, this rare compilation (many never-before-seen works) is edited by Bruce Gordon and David Mumford. This version is packaged in a spectacular limited edition display box. The beautiful graphics linen texture box is adorned on its front cover with a reproduction of Ryman’s famous signature. “Herbert Ryman” jumps from the cover in red that adorns so many of his masterpieces. The box is beautifully lined in velvet and numbered 0016 with a brass plate bearing the Ryman Foundations 10th Anniversary logo. The box was designed by Disney Imagineer Bruce Gordon to serve as an easel and is a spectacular way to display your favorite piece of Ryman’s artwork.
There is beautiful translucent rice paper dust jacket around this book which is told entirely in Ryman’s words and gathered from his personal journals, letters and notes. “A Brush With Disney” provides an extraordinary insight into the magical worlds of Walt Disney and his quintessential Master Artist Herber Dickens Ryman.

Herb Ryman was that rare artist who easily bridged both the commerical and fine arts throughout his long career. Disney fans know him for his inspiring illustrations of Disneyland, Walt Disney World, Tokyo Disneyland & Disneyland Paris.
He started his career at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer working on such classics as "David Copperfield” and "Mutiny On The Bounty”. His last work at MGM was the Emerald City segment of “The Wizard Of Oz”. He also worked on "Ana and the King of Siam” for 20th Century Fox.
By 1938, he had joined Walt Disney Studios to work on Pinocchio. He also served as the Art Director on Dumbo, Fantasia, and Victory Through Air Power. He worked on The Three Caballeros and Saludos Amigos as a Art Supervisor.
Herb Ryman’s stunning conceptual drawings of Walt Disney’s Disneyland, Walt Disney World & EPCOT, have inspired viewers since his very first 1953 drawings of the proposed amusement park helped to secure the needed million dollars from the bankers to build the park. Walt’s fabulous parks have always been in a constant state of moving forward.
Herb Ryman’s talents were responsible for the beautiful original concepts drawings for: Disneyland’s Sleeping Beauty Castle, Walt Disney World’s Cinderella Castle and both iconic Castles at Tokyo Disneyland and Disneyland Paris.
