Description
Henry Disston & SonsD 23
10 Point FINE Cross Cut
24 inch Plate size
1930-40s
The Disston D23 which replaced most of the working mans saws in the lineup such as the No 7 and D8. The D23 design was pulled from past models including the D-8 style plate and cover top handle. The wood used was beach like the No 7. These late model saws made at the Tacony plant (in philly) use some of the best steel they made combined with sold construction. Over all this saw is close to factory fresh with a few small apologies and nothing that effect the cut.
The handle has a few scratches and marks one chip at the beak of the cover top that was glued at some point. Screws are tight to the plate. Both horns are clean and full. The straight plate has a few stains but nothing deep. Light but readable double factory etch. The 10 point fine cross cut was freshly sharpened with sloped gullets to aid in smooth cuts with less feedback. The saw has been tested and ready to go out of the box. The 24 inch size and fine pitch make great uses in the shop and make quick work hard woods.
Have a look at the photos and details below. Let me know if you have any questions.

ABOUT THE SAW
HANDLE:
A clean late model stained beach wood handle with a few marks. The top edge of the beak has a chip/crack that was glued at some point. See pictures for details. Hardware is in good shape and tight to the plate.
PLATE:
Just as everyone wants. Straight and clean with a few light marks and stains, nothing deep that would effect cut.
The etch is light but readable. I take great care in my sharpening process and don't simply sharpen and list. After the saw is sharpened I test cut then tune as needed for best use. The 10 point ultra fine cross cut was sharpened with sloped gullets. Perfect for use on all woods that require
a fine cut with a clean finish. The ultra fine pitched plate makes cuts on tricky, harder woods a breeze.
Please excuse any dust in the pictures the saw will be wiped down before it's mailed. After looking over pics let me know if you have any questions.
WHY BUY FROM ME
The goal with every saw I offer is to bring back the beauty in direct proportion to its overall condition
.Each one is checked before it’s sharpened and tested then tuned as needed. It's true I do this for profit but I've got a passion for saws that anyone who's talked with me know. I stand behind what I sell! It’s as simple as that. If you're not happy contact me and I will refund or work it out. I don’t tend to sell at auction rather I sell a top quality saw at a fare price. It’s what I demand, and what you should as well. My description don't spend time saying I'm the BEST or have a god like ability with a file, I don't trash other seller rather I try and to stick to the topic at hand— some history, details, and a few jokes. I'm very good at what I do because I've learned from others and practice a lot. I have love for what I do and I think if you take the time to read my blog or follow me on social media it come through. That passion I feel tips the scales in my favor and I hope gets you to try one of my saws. Rest assured if it doesn't go to your liking with mine or another sellers saw I'm here to make it good.
I offer restoration and sharpening services. Please contact me or look me up on the web.

NOT SO FINE PRINT
Please carefully review the pictures, I have done my best to describe things as I see them. ALWAYS feel free to email with any questions and I will do my best to answer them. I make every effort to ship next day after payment M-F.
I now use the ebay calculator that allows local customers a better rate then a single flat rate coast to coast.
I'm happy to combined shipping but please contact me BEFORE payment so I can combine
I accept returns up to 14 days
. I do not charge extra for shipping but do charge .50 to cover the cost of the box. These older saws can damage easily and I find it's better to use a custom box rather then recycle ones.
Please take a second to look at this and other saws I offer. I put a good deal of effort into each saw and I want you, the buyer to be happy. E-mail with any issues and I will do my best to resolve them in a peaceful way. Thanks for look and I invite you to read my feedback, It’s a gift and you should bid with confidence based on it.
