This is a limited edition of only 350 hand inked, hand painted, hand signed character cel set-ups from Walt Disney's classic animated feature film 101 Dalmatians (1961).  This cel set-up recreates Cruella De Vil from sequence 2, Scene 47 of the film.  The lithograph background reproduces clean-up animation drawings that feature various moods and personalities of Cruella as she was original drawn by Marc Davis back during the creation of the film.  These reproduced drawings are still archived in the Disney vaults and are directly reproduced onto this background. Piece is finished off with the personal, hand signature of Marc Davis (on the cel), who signed this entire edition on the Disney lot in Burbank, CA.  The hand painted center image of Cruella is over 10 inches tall. It's the Largest recreated image of her, Disney has ever release though the Disney animation department. The layout of this edition was screen, designed and approved by Mr Marc Davis. The Marc approved over 15 different color be used in painting Cruella; certainly a standard of excellence that was established all the way back to Marc first animated project for Disney, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
    BIO: Who is Marc Davis?
Marc is one of a limited number of Premiere Disney Animators. Walt Disney called them his nine-old-men. Which is a comment to-wards their wisdom and creativity because he trusted them with all of the animation as he got involved in other projects. Marc's career at the Disney Company encompasses 50 years of creativity. As a Feature Animator starting in the 1930's he developed the characters of Snow White and Bambi & Thumper.  During the 1940's he became the man to go to when drawing female characters such as Alice and Cinderella.
In the 1950's he drew Tinker bell for Peter Pan. He finished his animation career at Disney by  Briar Rose & Maleficent for Sleeping Beauty.  With his last animated character being Cruella de Vil. This over the top drag Queen was way ahead of it's time. Smoking, chasing little puppies, poor driving habits...could Cruella be the most evil Disney Villain of all time?? We think so.
After retiring from feature Animation in the 1960s he moved over to WED (Walter Elias Disney) imagineering which was the division in charge of creating all of the Disney theme park attractions. He used his artistic talents to integrate his animation skills into the physical world. He was integral in creating and developing Disneyland attractions like the Pirate robots in Pirates of the Caribbean & Ghosts in The Haunted Mansion with their Audio.
