Description
You are looking at a 26" crosscut hand saw made in the USA by Henry Disston & Sons of Philadelphia, Pa. This saw is not marked on the face of the blade, as the etch is completely worn away. It can be identified by it's attributes, and the medallion. The blade on this piece sights nice and straight and features a straight back that follows to a slightly reduced broad tip with a nib,, and 8 points per inch with all the teeth intact but one at the heel that is chipped. (marked on 5th Photo) The rest are in relatively sharp condition. The steel is clean and has a nice patina to it, but also has a few dark spots from previous oxidation. The handle on this saw is Beech, that has no splits or cracks, but does show usage and finish wear. It does show a chip off the top horn. The handle is held tight to the blade with four brass saw nuts, one of which holds the "H. Disston & Sons - PHILAD'A" medallion.
