ALICE IN WONDERLAND ORIGINAL DRAWING BY DISNEY ARTIST/HISTORIAN STACIA MARTIN!
For That Special Disney’s Alice in Wonderland Collector
An Original Drawing by Disney Artist Historian Stacia Martin
Alice in Wonderland Hand Drawn in the 1980’s by Stacia Martin This Stacia Martin original drawing of Alice In Wonderland measures 11” wide and 8 1/2” tall. Although it is not signed by Stacia, It was actually drawn by Stacia Martin as we watched in the late 1980’s at a Disneyana Collector’s Convention. It is in very good condition for its age.
Disney’s Alice in Wonderland was the thirteenth animated film produced by the Studio. It was released to theaters on July 26, 1951. Walt Disney began toying with the idea of making an animated feature film in the early 1930’s, however, these plans were eventually scrapped in favor of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Disney did not completely abandon the idea of adapting Alice, and in 1936 made the Mickey Mouse cartoon Thru the Mirror. In 1938, he revived the idea of a full-length Alice picture. Realizing the amount of work needed for Alice in Wonderland, as well as the economic devastation of World War II, Walt shelved the project. It wasn’t until after the releases of Pinocchio, Fantasia and Bambi that Alice in Wonderland became a reality.
Alice In Wonderland is irresistibly captured in this original drawing by the talented Disney Artist & Historian Stacia Martin. Stacia has celebrated working for The Walt Disney Company for over 40 years and has been honored as both a “Walt Disney Legacy” and “Disney Archives Angels” award recipient in their inaugural classes.
Here we find Alice asking the question, “What do you mean, It ’Tisn’t Brillig?” We believe that Disney Artist & Historian Stacia Martin added this nonsense phrase to her hand drawn Alice as a tribute to Author Lewis Carrol’s poem “Jabberwocky”. It's from the 1871 novel Through the Looking-Glass that depicted an up-side-down and back-to-front world where even speech is nonsense and jumbled. “Brillig” could make reference to four o’clock in the afternoon, the time when one would begin boiling things for dinner or starting a pot of tea.
Stacia Martin began her Disney career at Disneyland as a sketch artist and worked in the Park’s Disneyana Shop on Main Street and The Disney Gallery in New Orleans Square. In recent years she has traveled throughout the world on goodwill and promotional tours, shared her knowledge and talent in a variety of Disney publishing and musical projects, and has continued to create art for Disney Parks and guests.
The Alice In Wonderland original drawing by Stacia Martin is the only item for sale in this ebay listing. The additional color images are included for informational and illustrative purposes only and not a part of this ebay listing.
